Matilda tells the story of an intelligent and imaginative little girl who does not fit in with her family members who just want to watch television, whilst she is longing to learn and read. When she pleads her parents to go to school, they finally succumb and Matilda finds that school is not what she thought it would be, with the hideous and cruel headmistress Miss Trunchball terrifying anyone who sets foot in the institute. One day, Matilda learns that she is gifted with much more than being smart, and begins to give the grown-ups a taste of their own medicine.

Matilda the Musical is a brand-new version of the much-loved story which was also made into a movie in 1996 starring and directed by Danny DeVito. The stage version is by Dennis Kelly and award-winning comedian and musician Tim Minchin, and is directed by Matthew Warchus.
