the murderous backdrop of the Malaysian campaign at the end of World War II.
Privates On Parade follows Private Steven Flowers
who is posted to the Song and Dance Unit in South East Asia. Serving under the
flamboyant Captain Terri Dennis, he discovers it takes more than just a uniform
to become a man.
Playing the cross-dressing Captain Dennis whose
performances of Marlene Dietrich, Vera Lynn and Carmen Miranda form the
centrepiece of the comedy, multi Olivier Award-winner Beale is a regular on the
London stage, appearing most recently in Timon Of Athens and Collaborators at
the National Theatre
